As HR Director for the Merlin Magic Making Development team and Group Corporate Functions (c.750 FTE combined), you’ll play an active role in both senior leadership teams to shape and deliver respective people strategies that will support and enable business aspirations and global expansion, supported by a team of 8. Staying true to the Merlin organisational values every step of the way, you’ll continue to nurture an inclusive culture that drives strong engagement and delivers the best employee experience; creating opportunities for all colleagues to thrive and grow.

Key priorities will include; maturing current and future talent management strategies; creating robust succession pipelines and workforce plans to meet the demands of existing attractions and new openings across the globe (UK, Europe, US, Asia). Partnering Exec members and their senior leadership teams, act as coach and advisor to help increase capability and drive high performance, with a keen eye on identifying and developing tangible actions that will increase the diversity of teams. Organisational development and change will be a key feature in role, alongside project management that will draw upon your stakeholder management capability across global customer groups. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, with a dotted line to the Group People Director, you’ll also be a keen contributor to the Group HR strategy as a member of the HRLT, and develop and maintain good external networks to understand evolving trends in the workplace and position Merlin as an employer of choice.

If you’ve developed your career in a complex, fast paced, multi-site and global organisation, this will be an easy transition. To date, you’ll demonstrate a strong track record of developing strategic and tactical HR plans and programs with the ability to frequently pivot from strategist to operator as the business demands. As a true generalist, you’ll have built a strong generalist toolkit across the employee lifecycle from talent acquisition to employee relations, organisational change to comp and bens, and continue to enjoy all aspects. Delivering performance through people and expertise in people leadership, executive coaching and managing change will also be evident. The practical stuff – relocation is available for those who fancy a move to the beautiful South Coast and closer to the Merlin HQ in Poole. Alternatively, you can work remotely and spend time in Poole a couple of days a week. Other UK office locations include County Hall London, Basingstoke, and you’ll be encouraged to work from a Merlin attraction anytime!
